The huge re-development of Victoria Park is well underway, with new plans for an outdoor cinema event to draw Brisbanites to the newly upgraded green space.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said footpaths and lighting were being installed.
“The golf course officially closed, and we have been getting on with the work to make the park ready for use.
“We’ve taken down a kilometre of fencing … we’ve been removing sand bunkers and we are also just gearing up a project now to install public toilets and we are converting some of the bunkers into flower gardens as well.”
He also revealed there will be a free outdoor cinema on Saturday 2 October.
“We want to gear up the use of it while we continue to upgrade it.”
