Mondrian five-star hotels and branded residences are located in some of the world’s most popular destinations. Now, the lure of five-star luxury living is coming to Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.
Vitale Projects has teamed up with hospitality group sbe, hotel group Accor, interior designers Studio Carter and architectural group Elenberg Fraser to bring the $380 million apartment and hotel development to life.
The venture will feature two towers – one for Mondrian Gold Coast Private Residences and the second for a five-star Mondrian hotel.
Cameron Kusher, executive manager of economic research at REA Group, says luxury apartment developments in this segment of the Gold Coast are rare.
“A lot of the luxury apartment (developments) like this would be in the northern Gold Coast, such as Surfers Paradise, so this is bringing a high level of quality to Burleigh Heads,” Kusher says.
Luxury appeal
A distinct feature of branded residences is that residents can access the amenities and services of the aligned hotel in their everyday life, says Adrian Parsons, managing director of TOTAL Property Group.
“One of the key differences that we’ve found with people interested in branded residences is that they don’t just want to buy an apartment which has a swimming pool,” says Parsons.
“The attraction has been buying an apartment that is connected to a hotel where you have a range of restaurants, great sophisticated bar areas as well as in-room dining.”
At Mondrian Gold Coast this will include a 24-hour concierge, 24-hour room service, personal driver, restaurants and bars, as well as fitness and leisure areas, including a state-of-the-art pool with views of Burleigh Heads beach.
Kusher expects that the development will suit permanent owner-occupiers, business people wanting to live and work between city and beach homes, as well as those looking for a luxury holiday apartment in replacement of travelling overseas after the impact of COVID-19.
“There are also some downsizers selling up their capital city houses and moving to the coast,” says Kusher.
Designed for the view
The development will embrace 80 metres of ocean frontage along Burleigh Heads beach. Parsons says it has been designed to maximise the views and complement its beach environment.
“The architecture is very striking,” he says. “The facade has a wave-like effect to it and arched features.”
The interior design carries through this beach theme in terms of colours and textures. There are various floorplans including two, three and four bedrooms, spacious kitchens and bathrooms, ensuites, expansive living spaces, butler’s pantries, wine cabinets and balconies fit for entertainment.
The Burleigh lifestyle
One of the biggest drawcards to the area is the beautiful beach for swimming and surfing. Meanwhile, for those looking for a dose of nature and hiking, the nearby Burleigh Head National Park has coastal tracks and wildlife.
Parsons says that Burleigh Heads is developing into a location that caters for a wealth of lifestyle demands.
“Burleigh Heads has matured a lot in the last few years, with an abundance of cafes and restaurants, making it a very all-inclusive destination,” he says.
With interstate interest in Gold Coast properties surging, Burleigh Heads proximity to Gold Coast airport makes it a great location for city-to-beach commuters, Kusher says.
“You can base yourself on the Gold Coast and work out of Sydney or Melbourne quite easily,” he says.
